The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) concluded its general convention in Chitwan on June 23, 2026, having approved six key documents covering political and economic policy. The documents advocate replacing the current parliamentary model with a directly elected executive and moving to a fully proportional representation system.

The party's political report, presented by Chair Rabi Lamichhane, and the economic-policy report, presented by Vice-President and Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle, together reject the socialist orientation enshrined in the preamble of Nepal's constitution and endorse social democratic principles in its place.

Prime Minister Balendra Shah, who serves as senior leader of the RSP, addressed the opening session of the convention on June 21 and was formally elected to the senior leader position during a closed session on June 23. He returned to Kathmandu on June 24.
