Nepal Rastra Bank data show that workers' remittances in the first ten months of fiscal year 2025/26, ending around mid-May to mid-June 2026, rose 41.2 percent year-on-year to NPR 1.92 trillion. In US dollar terms, inflows grew 33 percent to $13.26 billion over the same period.
The surge in remittances exceeded the country's trade deficit by NPR 351.5 billion, contributing to a current account surplus of NPR 552.85 billion. Nepal's remittances are estimated to account for approximately 30 percent of GDP, making the inflow a central driver of macroeconomic stability.
