Nepal recorded a significant surge in remittances, totaling over Rs 2120.80 billion during the first 11 months of the current fiscal year 2082-83 BS (2025-26), concluding mid-June 2026. This represents a substantial increase of 38.2% in Nepali Rupee terms and 29.6% in US Dollar terms when compared to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
In Jestha (May-June) alone, remittances amounted to Rs 203.89 billion. Earlier reports indicated that Nepal receives an average of Rs 7 billion in remittances daily. Remittances are projected to constitute approximately 33.02% of Nepal's GDP for this fiscal year, an increase from 27.80% last year, underscoring the country's growing reliance on earnings from overseas workers.
