Remittance inflows to Nepal rose 41.2 percent year-on-year during the first ten months of fiscal year 2025/26 — mid-July 2025 to mid-May 2026 — reaching Rs 1.92 trillion. Measured in US dollars, the increase stood at 33 percent, amounting to $13.26 billion over the same period. As of mid-April 2026, Nepal was receiving an average of approximately Rs 7 billion in remittances each day.

The depreciation of the Nepali rupee against the US dollar has been identified as a significant factor amplifying the rupee-denominated growth in remittance figures. Remittances remain one of the largest sources of foreign exchange for Nepal and a key driver of domestic consumption.
