Remittance inflows into Nepal reached an unprecedented Rs 2.12 trillion during the first eleven months of fiscal year 2025/26, according to the Nepal Rastra Bank's report released on July 13, 2026. This represents a substantial 38.2% increase compared to the same period last year. In US dollar terms, remittances rose by 29.6% to USD 14.59 billion.
This record inflow has significantly strengthened Nepal's external sector, contributing to a substantial increase in gross foreign exchange reserves. Reserves climbed to Rs 3.76 trillion (approximately US$24.68 billion) by mid-June 2026, sufficient to finance 22.5 months of merchandise imports.
