On Tuesday, July 21, 2026, Prime Minister Balendra Shah met with representatives from the Garment Association-Nepal. During the meeting, he directed the formation of a 'Textile and Clothing Development Council' and emphasized the government's commitment to the readymade garment industry.
Prime Minister Shah also issued directives to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to facilitate Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) aimed at promoting Nepal's garment sector.
