Remittance inflows increased by 41.2% in NPR terms and 33.0% in USD terms in the ten months ending mid-May 2026, according to NRB figures. From mid-April to mid-May alone, inflows totalled Rs 257.49 billion.
Gross foreign exchange reserves reached Rs 3,704.55 billion (USD 24.19 billion) in mid-May 2026, up 38.3% from mid-July 2025. The reserves are sufficient to cover merchandise and services imports for 19.2 months.
Consumer price inflation stood at 5.04% year-on-year in mid-May 2026, up from 2.77% a year earlier. Non-food and services inflation at 5.26% outpaced food and beverage inflation at 4.63%.
