Nepal Rastra Bank reported that remittance inflows reached Rs 1.91 trillion between mid-July 2025 and mid-May 2026, a 41.2% increase compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year. In the single month of mid-April to mid-May 2026, inflows totaled Rs 257.49 billion.

At the same time, remittance outflows from Nepal — payments made by foreign workers in the country — rose 12% to Rs 9.75 billion over the same ten-month period. Gross foreign exchange reserves also increased 38.3% to Rs 3,704.55 billion (approximately USD 24.19 billion) as of mid-May 2026, providing import coverage of a record 19.1 months.
