On August 4, 2026, Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal stated that the government is focusing on achieving economic prosperity through international aid and trade. He highlighted the need for Nepal to expand its participation in global trade and international assistance.
Khanal urged a review of past missed opportunities to leverage zero-tariff access as a Least Developed Country (LDC) and called for clear priorities in Nepal's foreign missions. He made these remarks at a program organized by the Economic Diplomacy Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
