Reports from July 26, 2026, indicate that Nepal fell short of its foreign grant target for the fiscal year 2025/26, securing only Rs 31.26 billion against a goal of Rs 53.45 billion. This represents just 58.5% of the target set by the government.
Foreign aid commitments also saw a significant decrease, shrinking to Rs 40.88 billion by mid-June of the 2025/26 fiscal year, down from Rs 67.26 billion in the previous year. Overall foreign assistance, which includes both loans and grants, contracted by 39.3% to Rs 134.83 billion compared to the same period in fiscal year 2024/25. Despite these figures, the government has set a higher grant target of Rs 61.75 billion for the current fiscal year.
