As of July 19, 2026, 18 Members of Parliament (MPs) have registered 77 amendment proposals to the 'Nepal Rastra Bank (Third Amendment) Bill, 2083' in the House of Representatives. These proposed amendments address crucial issues such as digital banking, central bank digital currency (CBDC), cryptocurrency regulation, and the structure and qualifications of the board of directors.

Proposals include a clear legal definition of 'Digital Bank' and the inclusion of 'Central Bank Digital Currency' with legal recognition in the Act. Strict criteria for the licensing and regulation of 'Virtual Asset Service Providers' have also been proposed. The amendments also clarify that private cryptocurrencies will not be legally recognized in Nepal.
