Finance ministry officials presented the federal budget for fiscal year 2026/27 on June 22, 2026. The budget proposes reducing customs duties on 273 categories of raw materials and cutting the number of customs duty tiers to seven.

The budget also announced the creation of a Special Economic Administration Zone intended to consolidate decision-making on tax, customs, import, export, and investment matters. Under an 'Investment Express' concept, the government said it aims to complete the process from business registration to construction permits within 30 days through an automated system to be established within three months.

Additional measures include reviewing electricity demand charges, offering tariff discounts for industries, allowing industrialists to mortgage structures on leased or industrial land for banking purposes, and introducing a new policy directive to revive the Hetauda Textile Industry.
