For the fiscal year 2025/26, which concluded on July 16, 2026, the Nepalese government collected Rs. 1,241.31 billion in revenue, achieving 83.87% of its annual target of Rs. 1,480 billion. Tax revenue amounted to Rs. 1,121.08 billion (84.57% of target), while non-tax revenue stood at Rs. 120.23 billion (77.87% of target).
The government's capital expenditure remained low, utilizing only Rs. 190.84 billion, or 46.79%, of the Rs. 407.88 billion allocated. This represents the weakest capital budget execution in six years. Recurrent expenditure reached 88.4% of allocation, and financial management spending was 92.56% of allocation, contributing to a budget deficit that widened to Rs. 301.51 billion.
