On August 10, 2026, Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal stated in the House of Representatives that Nepal is systematically evaluating its existing bilateral and multilateral agreements. The purpose of this review is to ensure that these agreements align with current national priorities.
Khanal clarified that the government is actively collaborating with the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and other relevant ministries to review treaties under a structured annual action plan. He added that any modification, renewal, or revision of treaties relies on mutual agreement in line with international law and diplomatic practice.
