On August 10, 2026, Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal addressed the House of Representatives, informing members that it is unclear whether Nepal possesses an official copy of the Sugauli Treaty signed with Britain.
Khanal also announced that Nepal plans to review its 655 treaties and agreements, prioritizing national interests. Of these, 55 have already been concluded or amended, and the remaining 600 will undergo review, revision, and renewal based on necessity and justification.
