The EU launched two regional initiatives in Kathmandu from June 23–25, 2026, under the EU–South Asia Aviation Partnership Project (EU–South Asia APP), aimed at improving flight safety standards and oversight systems across South Asia. A further workshop on regulatory updates in continuing airworthiness is scheduled in Kathmandu from June 29 to July 2.
Thomas Millar, Chargé d'Affaires at the EU Delegation to Nepal, said at the opening ceremony of the Regional Aviation Safety Programme module that air safety remains a priority for Nepal and acknowledged the Nepali government's recent efforts to address concerns raised by the European Commission. Millar said Nepal has submitted a comprehensive package related to its Corrective Action Plan's implementation, which the European Commission's Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport will review in the coming months.
