Crime & justice, honestly read
Cases registered with Nepal Police, year by year and by category. We show the trend and say plainly what it means — because a rise in registered cases is not the same as a rise in crime. Aggregate figures only; we hold no one’s personal record.

Read this first. These are cases registered with the police, not a count of crime that actually happened. The number can rise for good reasons — more people reporting, more police posts, online registration — as well as bad ones. A higher figure can mean a safer, more trusting society that reports more, or a more dangerous one. It cannot, on its own, tell you which. We publish the trend so it can be watched; we do not claim it proves crime is rising.
